The 2018 season officially started as 14 teams descended to East and West Rush Lake sponsored by Quantum Fishing! The weather turned cold from previous days, with air temps down to the low 60’s and a blustery NW wind at 10 mph – 20 mph wind. Never seems to fail getting the tougher conditions come tournament days, right?
But challenging our mental attitude and learning to catch them in those conditions continues to make us better anglers!
For many fans of the Minnesota Bass Tour, the first tournament once again allowed them to get up close
Let’s Kickoff the 2018 Season!
This Sunday marks the first stop of the Minnesota Bass Tour is on East & West Rush Lake located in Chisago County. It’s been a long off-season and it couldn’t get here fast enough!
The last time the Tour was here was in July of 2014, certainly a different point in the season, especially in contract to the late ice out we have experienced this year. It was a tougher bite laden with a storm that came on through and then oppressive heat, let’s hope the shallow bite stays hot and we can see some real piggies coming to the scales!
A Long Winter…
When each Minnesota Bass Tour season ends, the countdown to the next season begins almost immediately for me. As my brother Dan and I went through the sad process of winterizing our Champion bass boat last November, questions immediately started swirling about the next season:
That’s a Wrap!
The Minnesota Bass Tour has now concluded our 7th season! The usual seasonal comments still apply: “I can’t believe we are already done with the season.”
After all, it seems like we were just gathering for tourney #1 on Lake Koronis on June 4th!
So… What All Happened This Season?
This year we saw teams be successful that had limited winner’s circle exposure in past seasons. Their improvement was obvious.
Lake Vermilion TOC
MN Bass Tour Members gathered at Lake Vermilion for the last tournament of the year on September 9th and 10th. The Tournament of Champions (“TOC”) represents the MN Bass Tour’s final event of the year and is the only two day event of the year.
The cumulative weight over each day wins the largest payouts we have for the year and oftentimes results in significant shifting of teams as they ramble for Team of the Year points at the same time. Our weather was generally stable with sunny and 70 degree days Friday-Sunday and with south winds from 5-10 mph.
