Gull Lake TOC Concludes 2018 – Presented by Blackfish Gear
The end of year Tournament of Champions (“TOC”) is the most anticipated event of the MN Bass Tour season due to it being the only 2 day event of the year and as a result, factors heavily in crowning the Blackfish Team of the Year.
Specifically, teams attending the weekend event accumulate Team of the Year points for BOTH days. The end result: an exciting finish as teams charge towards the coveted honor by patterning an outstate body of water.
This year was no different on Gull Lake and the Tournament of Champions presented by Blackfish Gear.
The MN Bass Tour held our second-ever catch and release tournament on the Chisago chain of lakes this past weekend. While not a customary weigh-in as far as tournaments go, the format drummed up excitement among MN Bass Tour Members who noted this style prevents the unnecessary stress on bass that can occur with the hot summer water temps.
We are here to report that the Chisago chain of lakes are alive and well in their catch and release state and in the end, it was a new team that came out on top, notching their first win ever on the tour!
35.68 lbs of Mille Lacs Smallmouth!
We’re excited to congratulate Aaron Schmoldt of Flippin’ Aint Easy for his 3rd place finish this past weekend in the non-boater division at the MN BASS Federation tournament of champions held on Mille Lacs Lake!
Aaron caught 35.68 lbs over the two day event nearly beating out 200+ anglers over the course of the event.
July 30th marked the 7th time fishing Lake Minnetonka and MN Bass Tour members were greeted with a sunrise having the endless spectrum of orange and red hues. It’s always breathtaking to have this as the backdrop for our blastoffs and racing to our first fishing spot for the day.
As the sunrise faded and the day completed, the total weight of bass caught by all anglers was the highest compared to all previous visits to Lake Minnetonka. However, with the warm skies, calm winds and being the most visited recreational lake in the state – it still made it challenging day for teams.
